Alcyone Cafe's Evening Hours

Alcyone is now closed. Owner Karo Thom is part of Gayle's Italian Market in the McGilchrist Building.

Have you been to Alcyone Cafe in the Pringle Park Plaza? If not, is it because of their limited hours? Then you'll be glad to know that owner Karo has made the decision to extend Alcyone's hours--
Mon - Tue: open until 6:30 pm;
Wed - Thu: 8:00 pm;
Fri:  9:00 pm.
They'll be serving happy hour on Monday and Tuesday, dinner on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.

After hearing this good news, @AmberPadilla, @SalemRebekah, @millersf and I, decided to meet and check this new development out. It's a cozy establishment, though thankfully the tables are not squeezed in. The bamboo table tops and benches add to the interior's contemporary look.

To begin, I chose the Lullu--a gin martini along with jerked & roasted chicken skewers with a pineapple ancho sauce to share and @AmberPadilla ordered citrus dressed scallops on a bed of arugula. I've had chewy experiences with scallops in the past, but these were a welcome surprise--tender, flaky with a lovely warm slightly sweet citrus flavor. The chicken skewers were nicely done. Always glad to see chicken well seasoned (I love jerked chicken) and perfectly cooked. The pineapple ancho sauce was delicious. I'm not exaggerating when I say I could easily become addicted.

We weren't finished catching up with each other, so we ordered dinner. @Millersf, a vegetarian, ordered Cheese Ravioli with Puttanesca Sauce. Both @AmberPadilla and I ordered the Pork Scallopini, served over a bed of jasmine rice. My pork was lightly breaded, cooked to perfection with just the right amount of sauce to compliment the dish and not overpower it.
Our helpful, efficient server, tempted us with a description of the creme brulee. Alcyone's is the creamy variety, with plenty of surface area for the caramelized sugar. Don't those raspberries below make you yearn for the warmth of the summer sun on your back?

Karo came to our table and filled us in on the handcrafted cocktails and delicious dishes to come.
I highly recommend you check Alcyone Cafe out--whether it's for the first time or the extended hours. Let us know what you think.
