We got an email from a new reader with a great blog post idea for this recent heat wave.
"I have been on a search lately for the best "go to" places for salad in Salem. The heat is out of control, and I'd like to know where I can go for something that isn't going to make me feel totally bogged down when I walk out."
Any other places to eat where you won't feel "bogged down" when you're done? I know it's a chain, but a Jamba Juice is pretty hard to beat when the mercury hits above 90.

Yau, salad!! My favorite salad lately is the Chèvre Salad at Venti's, with fresh & roasted apples, goat cheese, and nuts on lettuce with an amazing mango balsamic dressing. Alcyone also does some delicious salads with high quality ingredients. And Napoleon's also has some good ones, and they have a fabulous creamy balsamic dressing that I love! then there's always the old standby: the salad bar at the Center Street Safeway. It's hit & miss, though, depending on the day's ingredients.
The Brick and Rudy's have really tasty salads, and the salad bar at Life Source and Annette's are good too.
What's the name of that yummy salad at Word of Mouth? So good!
does the curry chicken salad at alcyone count?
Chicken salad with cranberries at Wild Pear...
Salad bar at Lifesource.. love the store-made goddess dressing!
Mill Creek Station is my go-to for a salad in Salem. It's just south of State on Hawthorne and they do an excellent Popeye salad. http://www.millcreekstation.com/CafeMenu.htm
