Stone Soup to Open in May!

A new restaurant at the Salem Public Library will be opening in May. Stone Soup Bistro is the name of the new restaurant soon to be owned and operated by Roxie Perrone. Roxie worked for many years at Queen of Tarts. She has worked really hard at putting this place together. You probably have donated money to her Indigo campaign or eaten some of her homemade soups and sauces. She was happy when she got the official news of the city accepting her application to occupy the restaurant on the bottom floor of the library. Here's a copy and paste from an email she sent out when she got the official word. Good Luck Roxie!

Ladies & Gentlemen drum roll please! It is official, the City of Salem has awarded the contract for the bistro @ the Salem Public Library to me. If all goes well, I should be open and operating no later than sometime in May. For up to date information, you can like my page @
. I want to thank all of you have supported my goal to open this business. I am truly blessed!

Congratulations Roxie! The red tape is back on the spool and all the hoops have been jumped through. Now the work begins. You must be very excited.

I sure hope you have your amazing Reuben Sandwich on your menu!

Fantastic French Onion Soup and Que Sauce, by the way. When SWMBO returns tomorrow night, I'll get a nice French Baguette and some Gruyere and really do it right.

That's great news! I had been volunteering at the library computer lab, and so many people asked what was going on with it, and now I can answer it, when I get back to volunteering!

I'm going to City Hall on Wednesday to drop off my signed Concessions Agreement Contract at Contracts & Procurement Division. Things can now move forward. Hope to open May 8th.

Good job Aaron!

If you haven't been to Stone Soup Bistro, you're missin' out. I'm thinkin' that "HELEN’S CHICKEN, KIELBASA & OKRA GUMBO W /RICE" commin' on Friday's soundin' pretty mighty tempting!

I've been thinking about this for a couple of days. In an unusual twist from what is usual, the realization surpassed the anticipation.

After her second bite of Gumbo, my wife said: “Roxie is an artist!” I quite agree. This ambrosial blend of Kielbasa Sausage, Shrimp, Okra and Onion over Rice must be experienced to be believed. (Roxie’s Soups are the stuff of legends.) When I first read the menu, my thought was that Andouille Sausage may have been better. I should have known better than to second guess the maestro.

We also shared a Panini Grilled Muffaletta made with Black Forest Ham, Salami, Provolone, Red Onion, Roasted Red Peppers, pepperoncini, Green Olive Tapenade and House Balsamic Vinaigrette. And had samples of delicious Macaroni Salad with Red Onion, Cilantro, Red Bell Pepper and Celery in a creamy Mayo based Sauce and a great Potato Salad made with Red Skins-on Potatoes and Celery with secret ingredients and sprinkled with Paprika.

If you haven’t been to this fantastic new eatery, you need to try it. You won’t be sorry!
