Word of Mouth

It was Sunday morning, and what could be better to do than to go out for breakfast with friends?

We decided to go to Word of Mouth. I've heard all sorts of amazing things (and not so amazing) about it for a long time, and I was happy to finally get a chance to judge for myself.

Of course, the place was packed, I had heard that it would be and didn't expect anything less. We sat in the waiting area with lots of people and waited..waited..and waited, but that's what happens when you go to a place that lots of other people go (that means it's good). Anyway, we were overjoyed to get our table and were promptly greeted by our server. She was super friendly and knowledgeable. She took our drink orders and I would have ordered a Bloody Mary or mimosa if I hadn't imbibed inordinately the night before. I ordered a green tea and the veggie hash.

My breakfast company ordered veggie hash, meaty hash, and blueberry pancakes.

Now I know what the fuss is about. Sure, if you need to eat something right away, this wouldn't be the place to go, but if you want a serving that is well worth your money in terms of portion size and flavor, and if you like good service, this is the breakfast place to go. Now I've become one of the people that rave about this place. By the way, I ate my leftovers today at work for breakfast, it just reminded me that I should return soon.

I too love this place, but it's been reviewed 18 times in the three years it's been open! That's more reviews than any other restaurant on here by miles! I'd like to see more reviews of other less known venues in the future.

Only counted half that.Unless you include all the mentions. Also, I like hearing different POV.

I agree, I too like different POV's. That's what the comment sections are for in the previous posts. OK, so mentions and reviews equal 18. It's still a lot more press than any other local restaurant receives in town. Again, I agree, it's a great place. But after 3 years I think everyone that reads reviews on this site can see how good they are just by looking up previous posts by clicking on "other reviews" at the top of the home page. In three years they have gained a well deserved huge following and reputation in this town; hence the name "Word of Mouth". Genius!

Anonymous, I'm embarrassed to admit that I've forgotten about the label tally next to each eatery on "other reviews".
The contributors and I try to do our best to remember to put tags/labels on every post, but aren't always successful.
I did notice there are two other places (La Capitale & Jonathan's) have a higher label count than Word of Mouth (for whatever reason), but yes--your point is a good one. Thank you.

Playing the devils advocate- The many reviews are from different people, not the same person reviewing it numerous times, so that shows consistency in their products and service over time. This review in particular was from someone who'd only heard about Word of Mouth and hadn't been there.

However the places that don't do it well may only have a single review, but why "beat a dead horse" as they say. I'd hate to come to this site and see 18 horrible reviews of one place, that's usually pretty obvious in the comments section.

Although the note to broaden reviews is a good one, it's important to keep up to date reviews on the favorites in town too. Just my 2 cents.

Sorry, my family will never set foot in this place again. While the food we had was good it was not as spectacular as all the excessive reviews seem to indicate. What ruined the experience for us was seeing how the staff discriminated against a group of people who had just come from a funeral of all things. I guess they didn't realize how other customers heard them bad mouthing this particular group, who were not causing any problems what so ever.
