Top Pick 2012, Nominations

This is the time of year that we nominate our favorite Salem area restaurant for our Restaurant of the Year poll. This year, we have decided to change it up a bit. Instead of it being the Restaurant of the Year 2011, we are going to call it the Top Pick 2012. How it works will be the same. Nominate your favorite restaurants in the comment section of this post. The restaurants with the most nominations will be put on a poll and voted on by readers of this site. Nominations will be counted on midnight January 4th. You may nominate as many restaurants as you like. Here is a list of the past winners:
2010 La Capitale
2009 Word of Mouth
2008 La Hacienda
2007 Apizza(Stayton)
Good luck to all the restaurants.

  18. I like a lot of places. Christos, SFNY pizza, Andaluz, Saigon, Jonathans, Jr's Tacos, Davincis, Word of Mouth, Crooked House.

But restaurant of the year? That is a little more complicated.

    - Christos did a great remodel of the lounge next door and has really contributed a nice place to go out for date night. Pizza is usually very good - esp when the owner is cooking and the service has improved.

    - SNFY pizza is an old 20 yr favorite and they expanded to Portland this year which I thought was pretty exciting. We've hear very good things from relatives on the new location. They manage to be a fast and very affordable option for our busy sports family.

    - Andaluz consistently gives a unique experience and brings something very different to the dining scene. Love the small plates concept and the ability to taste many different things. Lots of good cooking going on here.

My sole vote goes to Andaluz since I really think they are bringing something very different and exciting.

  24. I hate to suggest this one, for selfish reasons--if it wins, it will be harder to get in.
    But here goes....Crooked House Bistro

  25. I have to add just one more. (Maybe) In the Sub/Hoagie/Hero/Grinder/Po’ Boy category, The Sub Shop in Keizer has gotta be the clear winner.

  28. In my opinion Crooked House Bistro is heads and shoulders above most of the area restaurants. Silver Grille and Davinci's are close behind.
