Willamette Burger Co. has closed July 2012.
This is a copy and paste from a press release sent from the owners of Willamette Burger Co.
Effective October 1st, Willamette Burger Company will close for business at the 1405 Broadway location.
The decision is difficult, as the neighborhood has been extremely supportive, and the memories of the building are dear, but the space is small, and maintenance costs have become prohibitive.
Owner Robert Henry offers the following observation: “Broadway was a great starter space – for both our concepts - but we’ve outgrown it. We can’t continue to put resources into a location that isn’t going to yield us any more room or enable us to grow beyond what we can currently produce in that location. We know we have a phenomenal product and an outstanding fan base, but in the current economy, we can’t continue to operate under these circumstances.”
Fans should stay tuned via FB and Twitter (@willametteburgr) for future updates.
The Henrys also own Willamette Noodle Company, which will be open 7 days a week, starting Monday, October 3rd. “We are trying to keep as many of our employees as we can, while we figure out how to best keep the spirit of Willamette Burger Company alive.” states owner, Janet Henry. “We don’t want to let BC fade from peoples’ hearts and minds – we are hoping to figure out something in the near future to keep our Burger fans engaged.”
Reading between the lines, I hope this means they are looking for a new location. This is very sad news and I feel extremely guilty for not going in there enough. I have to say that the location was a bit of an inconvenience for this South Salem resident. The owners have promised to let us know when they make future plans, so stay tuned. In the meantime get in there and get a burger.
