Josey's Restaurant - Friday Night Dinners
Two or three years ago, I first heard about Mark of Josey's Restaurant, doing Friday night dinners for several months every Spring/Summer. Since we rarely go out for dinner on Fridays (no reason) and we tend to be late diners (they close at 8PM), we've never made it to Josey's for dinner until now.
The prime rib special posted on their reader board caught our eye. And once the waitress began to describe the meal and all of it's options, we were sold. The $26 prime rib dinner for two, included soup, salad, bread, entree and dessert. We ordered iced tea to drink and chose medium rare for our meat. When we asked questions about the German style potato choice, our waitress brought us out a generous sample. (Mmmm, sautéd onions, bacon and just a touch of vinegar.) We both opted for their house made chicken tortilla soup, green salad, German potatoes, creole green beans and a slice of almond apple cake with cream cheese frosting. N chose the cheesy garlic toast and I went with the dinner roll.
Our entire meal was very good, but the stand-outs of my dinner were the German potatoes and the almond apple cake. It appeared that all of the food including the sauces had been made from scratch. And how can you beat that price?! Our only complaint is a wish there had been more time between each course. I feel rushed when my entree arrives and I've only just begun to eat my salad.
