~Review by Chuck Bradley
We’ve been to this great south Salem Chinese restaurant several times. I’m not sure why I’ve neglected to review it here.
Two things will strike you upon entering this place. The first, is the friendly greeting, accompanied by a big, sincere smile. Whether it’s from the man or the lady server, you always know they’re glad you came. The second, is its incredible cleanliness. It sparkles! I’ve watched these folks in action. When so much as a cracker crumb falls on the floor, as soon as the table is cleared, they’re right there with a carpet sweeper making sure the booth/table area is spotless before another party is seated.
The food is very good here. Among other things she who must be obeyed and I have tried here are: General Tao Chicken, Pork Fried Rice with Egg Roll lunch; Mandarin Chicken (all Tempura battered breast meat in a spicy sauce) and Pork Fried Rice lunch; Pork Fried Rice, Egg Fu Yung and Pot Stickers lunch. Their deep fried items are not grease saturated, as is so often the case at other places. Carol always gets the Egg Flower Soup and I get the Hot and Sour Soup. Every dish we’ve had here perfectly satisfied.
A word about their Hot and Sour Soup is in order. I believe this to be the best in Salem/Keizer! Often I will have a big bowl and nothing else for lunch. It’s viscous and tangy and has more ingredients in it than I’ve seen in any other's version. If you are a Hot and Sour junkie also, you just have to try it at Golden Dragon. It will knock your socks off!
By the way, you can call ahead for take-out and your food will be ready when you arrive to pick it up.
Very good service, way better than average food and a clean and cheerful atmosphere is a combination that always puts smiles on our faces and happiness in our tummies.
