DOWNTOWN GOES PINK WITH BRAS IN THE CITY

"Go Downtown Salem and the downtown merchants are helping drive awareness to one of the biggest health concerns of women-breast cancer. For the second annual Bras in the City, participating downtown stores will “Go Pink” Wednesday Oct 6 from 5 to 8 PM.

The Bras in the City is a fund-raiser for the YWCA Women’s Health Program screening services. This program is lead by the dynamic and tenacious Karla Iverson. Last year’s first annual event helped raise over $1500 and over 100 women received screenings. The service is offered to women in Marion and Polk counties.

DOWNTOWN GOES PINK STORE DRAWINGS AND MORE

The evening’s event begins at 5 PM with over a dozen stores and restaurants offering enter to win drawings, “pink specials”, and pink refreshments and drinks. Pink cupcakes, pink martinis, pink margaritas, pink candy are just a few examples of fun happenings in the businesses. A pink tour map of the complete evening’s activities will be available on our website or at the information booth on the corner of Liberty and Court.

A new addition to this year’s Bras in the City will be a fashion show. JC Penney, Bittersweet Boutique, Olive Boutique, French Unicorn, and evening and prom fashions from The Bridal Gallery will highlight Fall 2010 fashions. A special section of the fashion show will have “celebrity models” showcasing the artful bras designed by local artists. The bras will be auctioned off to raise money for the cancer-screening program of the YWCA. The fashion show begins at 6:30 PM and is the opening entertainment to the first of the Fall and Winter Blues Concert Series.

BENEFIT CONCERT
Salem’s rising star, Ty Curtis will team up with Duffy Bishop, one of the most popular blues artists in the Northwest, to put on a special benefit concert for the YWCA- breast cancer screening program.
