The Pink House

I had one of the best dining experiences in a very long time at The Pink House in Independence. I went for lunch on a weekday and although they were crowded, they still had a couple of tables open on their very charming patio.  We grabbed one and had a delightful view of the small garden, lined with beautiful roses.  Our server was very prompt and friendly with our drink order, Pepsi for my dining companion, Pink Lemonade for me.  We took a few more minutes to drool over the menu and finally decided.  My companion ordered the Pink House Burger with the potato salad and I ordered the Grilled Chicken Greek Salad.  We had a few minutes to sit and chat before our food arrived.  During this time, our server filled our drinks again.

Our food arrived promptly and looked delicious as well as beautiful.  The burger seemed to be on a homemade bun and was piled high with toppings.  The patty itself seemed to be handmade and fit the bun perfectly.  My companion, having ordered the burger before, was not disappointed, claiming it was one of the best burgers she had ever had.  My salad was amazing.  A whole chicken breast sliced and perfectly seasoned and cooked lay on a bed of lettuce with feta, olives, baby tomatoes, cucumbers and red onions.  I appreciated that each of the items were separate on the bed of lettuce lightly dressed with oil and vinegar, allowing me to build each bite.  The salad was a good size, leaving me full.  For dessert, we shared Cream Cheese Brownie, which was a very healthy portion with two scoops of vanilla ice cream on top, more than enough for two to share after lunch and oh so very yummy.

Our server checked on us several times throughout the course of our meal and was very friendly.  As I find customer service as important as the quality of the goods been sold, I was pleased to find that The Pink House takes such care in both the quality of their ingredients and the quality of their staff.  The only bummer?   They aren't open on Mondays and Tuesdays.  But, they make up for it being one of the few places around that is open on Sundays.  Seriously, check out The Pink House.  I think you will be very happy!

Phenomenal breakfast!!!!!

After driving many miles in an attempt to cross the Willamette river on the Buena Vista ferry (which was closed) and try the positively reviewed Buena Vista House B&B brunch (also closed) we drove back to Independence. My office mate, Tom Brown, had recommended The Pink House to me some time ago. I just hadn't gotten around to trying it. I had the Mt Angel bratwurst and eggs. Most brats are very greasy in my experience. This one was perfect. The eggs yolks stood up as if they had been sitting under a chicken that morning. The potatoes were seasoned with rosemary and were out of this world. "She who must be obeyed" had a vegetable scramble which she said was exceptional. The wait staff was helpful, courteous and attentive. Folks, this place will rival The Original Pancake House (on S Commercial) breakfasts anytime! Check 'em out.
