New Bistro Coming to Town?

Just heard on Twitter that a new bistro is coming soon to Salem, The Crooked House Bistro.
After a little Googling, I found this and this.
Not sure if the last 2005 link is about the same chef.  I wonder if this is the same owner/chef that used to run Fleur de Sel on State St. in the Adam's Ribs location?

Update:
Just heard from local restaurateur, Janet Henry, that this is the same owner/chef who operated Fleur de Sel. She added that the bistro will be,
"... on Edgewater – used to be Crooked House Café years ago, then Dessert Diva was in there, and just recently Café K.I.S."

I'll add to this when I find out more.

  1. This is indeed fabulous news! Fleur de Sel was the restaurant-closing that I most mourned. As I recall, part of the “issue” was Bernard’s wish to create a welcoming neighborhood bistro without having to get involved in the messy world of advertising :-)

For the last few years he has been working with his best friend at Patanegra in Portland. I’ve eaten there and enjoyed it but will celebrate having him back in town. Insofar as I know, he and his family still live in Salem.

Thanks for the news---I’ll eagerly await updates.

  7. Ate there for "first night"---kind of a soft opening. Place is small---seats about 20. Excellent salads, and---as one might expect, French-inflected main courses. Names with a smile: "little bunny," "piggy cheeks," etc. Food was excellent with focus on local sources. The pear tarte from Fleur de Sel lives on !! Menu changes daily; my understandng is that lunch and dinner menus are the same. Strongly suggest reservations.
