First Wednesday

I was so happy about May's arrival, I nearly forgot it was time for First Wednesday!  I clicked on Go First Wednesday's website to see what was on the list of events this month.  Turns out there's even more than the usual smörgåsbord of things going on.  I've pasted a few teasers below to entice you , but for the entire list with information click here.  See you downtown!

"Go Downtown Salem teams up with Relay for Life to celebrate cancer survivors with an interactive one-mile walk around downtown.

May 5 is Cinco de Mayo and First Wednesday wouldn’t be complete without recognizing this festive occasion. An outdoor concert featuring Jalmex, a 7 member Mexican inspired band, will take place on Chemeketa Street 5:30 to 7:30 pm.

Internationally acclaimed artist Christopher Marley chose downtown Salem to open his art gallery, Pheromone, located at 255 Liberty Street.

Artist in Action’s art exhibit, Art Speaks; Are You Listening? at Capitol Center, 388 State Street will continue through May First Wednesday. 29 local and regional artists will be on display.

Downtown celebrates National Preservation Month with the introduction of the new historic walking tour brochure, a component of the Preserve America Grant.

May is National Duckling Month and Go Downtown Salem welcomes their new downtown mascot, Dudley the Downtown Duck. May First Wednesday will be Dudley’s official birthday. Kids are invited to Dudley’s birthday party, cake and milk will be served, story time and piñatas will be part of the party
