Rejected Comments

If you were enjoying your day today I apologize for posting these rotten comments that got caught in the bug zapper. But I have to get rid of them so here goes.

I've always liked this place, but hadn't been there in awhile. Things have changed. They now seat you and take your order. They no longer have my favorite dish. The waiter was nice, but not overly helpful answereing questions. What really got to me first was when I went to use the restroom. The outside of the white door was pretty dirty, and that was a sign of things to come. The inside of the room reekied of urine and was basically filthy. The floor, especially around the toilet had seriously not been cleaned in a long time. After washing my hands I had to figure out a way to open the nasty dirty door without undoing my handwashing. I am not even a freak about public restrooms, but I felt this one crossed a line. The food was okay and generous portions. Rice was gooey. Salad was good. Prices were reasonable. The only other thing I don't understand is about half-way through the meal a woman (probably an owner) comes in with her little boy and goes back to the kithchen and couner area. The little one proceeds to run around and chatter like a maniac. He was cute, but he was running around washing up tables and chairs and tipping the chairs onto the floor to wipe them off. Part of the time no parent was even in sight. At one point Mom comes out and tries to get him to do something he didn't want to do, so then the child starts loudly protesting.....for a long time. Now, I love kids, but there is time and place. I feel like if these people want to run a restaurant, then do the child, themselves, and the rest of us a favor by finding someone to care for him while they are working. Both my husband and I don't feel any need to go back.

(Pizza Restaurant) is hit or miss and lately it's been miss. Not Ok when your paying 25 plus bucks for a pizza. The service was awful the (description) owner made me feel like i inconvenience him for placing an order. With that said save your money or go elsewhere.

(Person's name) is the most overly arrogant under educated piece of trash to have graced the streets of Salem. I am very happy (restaurant) has failed, the service there has been dreadful.

He is a drunk(deleted statement). I knew this was gonna happen only a matter of time.

It's not clear to me why the first comment would be rejected.

I think the part about how the bathroom reekied of urine is when the red flag went up for me. It was right on the edge the whole way so I decided to hold it back.

I admit I'm missing something here...

Clearly the piece wasn't pulled because you felt the talk of urine was offensive, because you posted it. So what's wrong with it... is it because it's negative? God I hope not because a "review" site that only talks things up isn't worth much.

Like I said, it was a close call. Even the part about the owner's child running a muck was on the edge. I don't want a little child to feel bad about how they behaved in a restaurant. I guess to figure this one out LC, you're going to have to go around sniffing bathrooms for excessive urine odor.

For me the first post is just TMI. If you want to say a place was unclean, just say it, they don't have to go into the gross details. To me that sounds like the person may be a little mad at the restaurant for other reasons...to make them biased. It could be a real event too...who knows.

I am the one who wrote this review. Upon re-reading it, along with Salem Man's comments, I think I have to agree with Salem Man. If I were to do it all over again I would be less harsh in my descriptions. It's true the bathroom was as I described, however I really should have found a way to let the staff know this first. As far as the child goes.....Geeez, I feel a little guilty! He was a cute little guy, but I still don't feel it works very well to have your little one running all over your restaurant. However, it's not like I don't understand the cost and difficulties involved in finding child care. And I can't imagine how hard it must be to keep a business going in Salem anyway. But I don't think I'd ever have the guts to complain to a parent about their beloved child. So, I guess I would just deal. I have learned something from this. Choose my words more wisely. Thanks

Anonymous, I'm glad to hear this was legit. I was sure it was another ex-employee with a beef against their former employer.
You'd think bathroom cleanliness would be easy to keep track of, since the room is used by the workers, too. A dirty bathroom always makes me worried about what else they're not taking care of.

I don't feel like this reviewer should have to feel guilty. I've had many a dining experience ruined by loud or out of control children, to the point where I avoid "family friendly" restaraunts more often than not these days.

This site could really be a lot better if anonymous postings were not allowed.

I can imagine that it must be scary for restaurant owners knowing that public "reviews" could be disgruntled former employees or just an upset customer (been in the restaurant industry all my life and no matter how hard you try you just cannot make all the people happy all the time!).

That and the fact that this site is slow as grass growing at times.

There was nothing wrong with this review about said restaurant. This is the kind of info. I want to know as a paying diner!
