decide to write about it here. It's called Daphne's Greek Cafe, on SW 6th and it's part of a chain of west coast restaurants, mostly in California. I think this is an indicator that the standby burger joints are either losing their flavor with consumers or people are seeking healthier options. Not me, I ordered the Pita Burger with Fire Feta for $6.59(I think. Lost the receipt). It was fantastic. The burger patty was big and juicy and was smothered with the Fire Feta which was not too spicy. The fries were crisp and the meal came with a drink. Ordering the burger was sort of a safe first step for me. I like to see how a restaurant can cook the basics before I check out other things on the menu. For lunch, they sell a lot of Greek standbys including gyros, pitas and falafels. There is also an emphasis on the menu for vegetarian dishes which includ hummus and dolmas. There are lots of great local places in downtown Portland, especially near Pioneer Courthouse Square, most of them are really good as well. Daphne's is not the type of place you'd want to bring out of town guests or make a special drive up for but, if you find yourself up there wondering where to eat this one is a safe bet. One other thing, bathrooms are hard to come by in downtown Portland. If you have to go, restaurants and businesses only allow the use of their facilities for customers. I make it a rule that whenever I purchase something down there, I make sure to use their bathrooms

Daphne's Greek Cafe Portland
What a lunch I had the other day in downtown Portland. I sat in the dining room looking around wondering if this restaurant was a chain. Turns out it is but it was so tasty and reasonable I

Sounds like a cool place. I love healthy & fast options, like Pita Pit or Cascade Bakery (mmm, their sandwhiches!!).
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure my wife and I ate at one of these out in Beaverton. It's in the Cedar Hills Crossing parking lot opposite of Powell's. Pretty good stuff.
ReplyDeleteWhat is this, eatportland.com? Bad SalemMan!
ReplyDeleteNo way! We like to leave Salem a lot due to the lack of variety here and would love more out of town reviews!
ReplyDeleteeatportland.com? That's catchy! You're not upset that Daphne's is a chain?
ReplyDeleteSomeone in the "know" please post the address and/or phone number for Daphne's in Portland. I used to live in Southern California and we really miss Daphne's. I would be thrilled to surprise my daughters and take them for lunch there some day.
ReplyDeleteThe link to their website does not give any information about a restaurant in Portland Oregon.
There used to be one in downtown pdx but when I snapped a photo last year it was closed. It was near pioneer square.
ReplyDeleteAnon (11/23/10 6:46 AM), Two of my sources confirm what the last Anon said. It's closed. Here's where it is/was:
