Fast Eddies Pizza

By Vegan's Nightmare -- Yeah, I know.  It's another pizza joint.  So I'll keep it short.  Fast Eddies Pizza is located in the new "strip mall food court" on Mission Street at 23rd.  It's next to Scooters of Oregon, and across the parking lot from Sandwich Express.  The parking lot is only slightly larger than the South Salem Applebee's (I can see by your door-dings that you know what I'm talking about).  The restaurant is clean and tidy with about 8 tables or so, and an open view to the kitchen.  My companion and I were there around 12:45pm and it was empty, so we got pretty quick service.  They've got New York style pizza by the slice, and you can pick your toppings.  I was a little concerned that meant they were going to take a slice of cheese pizza, put my toppings on it and then nuke it, but thankfully it was put in the oven.  I chose to build one slice of a carnivore's paradise with meatballs, sausage, and pepperoni, and a second slice with sausage mushrooms and olives -- you know, something a little healthier.  In standard floppy-pizza style, I folded both lengthwise and inhaled quickly.  The pizza was pretty decent -- I've had better and I've had worse.  The meatballs were as good as the ones I get at Costco, of which I can easily put away two dozen without realizing it.  I remember that the prices were fair, but unfortunately I didn't write down how much I spent so I can't give you specifics.  The most important thing to note is that they have a Michael Jackson's Moonwalker arcade in the corner.  I'm not sure why it's important, it just is.

The Moonwalker video game is a very important detail. That's the kind of thing that will bring in the kids from all over town. I'm planning on asking my folks for my allowance early and skateboarding down there after school. Do we still do the thing where we line the quarters up along the top? Does anyone know of a restaurant in town that has a working Asteroids?

That pretty much matches my experience at the place.

There's better pizza out there, but it was fast and cheap - and it's the only pizza in that corner of Salem, I think.

It's a good place that has that Pizzeria feel that the chains lack. Their Lasagne and Breadsticks are good too. You can't go wrong with a good old fashioned slice shop with a Moonwalker arcade game in the corner.

A nice local place that needs our support.

I agree when me and my friends stopped in there on our lunchbreak about a month ago we were a little confused but it's nice being able to get a slice and then choose the toppings you want on it - but the Moonwalker video game, which I still have a photo of on my IPhone (it is priceless) is just the killer...

Fast E's is great, been going for many years. I love the pizza, and my wife loves the lasanga. They've been in Salem for as long as I can remember, and used to have a $6.99 large forever. (It's $8.99 now, not a bad increase at all) You can tell they make everything fresh, and that is what is most important in a real pizza. Pretty sure those slices are the biggest in town!!

FAST EDDIE'S!!!!! Gosh I love their pizza!
I really like their Mean Parade. Can't resist myself from keep eating it! I should stop and save some money for college tuition...

But today I went there and ate Teriyaki Bowl
which was cheap. Under $6 for whole bunch of rice and vegetables and the chicken was VERY good too. Oh yeah. They give you free teriyaki wrap if you order teriyaki bowl.

I recommend Fast Eddie's Pizza to everyone

I have been going to Fast Eddie's for years. I was disappointed when they were gone, thinking that they were out of business. But my friend told me that they are now on Mission st. I went there the other day and bought myself a personal teriyaki because I have never seen such a pizza. It is much better than what I thought. And Bulgogi bowl I bought for my girlfriend was tasty. I like how they combined pizza and Aisan food which gave me more variety of choices.

Italian/Asian Fusion? Josh touched upon this, but Rice Crew is housed with Fast Eddie's in the same restaurant. I too tried their Bulgogi today and, for what is pretty much a fast food place, I thought it was good. The owner (I think) brought me a glass of their blended-in-house cinnamon apple juice to sample. Delicious! I hope this business makes a go of it. I was there at the tail end of the lunch hour and was the only patron.

Just read that Fast Eddie's is closed.

Pretty below average pizza in my book. I am pretty generous when it comes to pizza (heck I used to love Union Street pizza and sunshine pizza), but Fast Eddie's strongest suit was that it was cheap.

Complaining about the quality of a closed pizza joint, under these circumstances, is pretty low.

It is not disputed that it wasn't great pizza. I just think its bad form to kick them while they're down.

They were nice enough folks. And affordable for people on a low income. That's important in this recession.
