Maverick's Bar and Grill

Any thoughts on the new bar and steakhouse on Commercial St S next to Northern Lights? A flyer advertises "Signature Dishes" and "Superior Value." They have a nice looking logo. Who's the owner? When I went by there it was not open for business yet. Even though the flyer says "Coming in July." Too bad, I would have eaten there.

I hope this one is a winner. Steak houses seem to be a rare occurrence in Salem (oops!).
We were so sad when McClain's (I think that was the name of the restaurant that used to be where the Lamplighter is now) closed. It was our favorite place to go when we had an urge for great service, tender, tasty, prime rib, garlic mashers, homemade rolls and a lovely, varied greens salad. {sigh}

OK...that sounds like someone who either owns, or has something to do with the place???

If you know so much, what's a tasty steak going to cost me here?

And who are the top chefs?

I ate breakfast at Maverick's this weekend and it was absolutely awesome. Best breakfast I have had in a long time. If you love a great breakfast I highly recommend it.

Oddly enough I have to take anonymous comments with a grain of salt... if you are associated with the place, tell us - I doubt it will be held against you. It will definitely give you some increased credibility.

I work at Mavericks, and out of all the places that I have worked it is one my favorites. The staff and managment are amazing. The chefs that I work with are top quality. Stop by and see for yourself. We are open7 days a week for breakfast lunch and dinner.Most things we server are made in house. Iknowthat you will enjoy your experience there as I have.

We ate at Mavericks last week. My husband and I split the large porterhouse steak. It was wonderful and reasonably priced. The service was great as well. We will be visiting here again.

My family was served by the "General Manager" as she called herself 3 times during the duration of our meal. She was very short with us, rude and snotty. When my husband ordered a drink she acted as if he were an idiot because he didn't order it "correctly". She talked to me as if I were a child who should already know what the dinners come with and after we were served she stayed behind the bar and complained about some employee she apparently didn't like. When we asked for the check, we asked who the owners were and she said "They arent here right now, But I am the general manager so what can I do for you". We told her we wanted to speak to the owners and she re-stated "they arent here right now". Apparently we werent allowed to know who the owners were, or she didnt want us complaining to them about her poor service. The food was good, the kitchen was clean, the bathrooms were disgusting, the bar looked nice and there were a lot of kids running around in the pool room with the drinkers....Very strange place, probably wont be back...

The place looks nice but the food is not very good and the bartender was the rudest person ever in a restaurant. Long blond hair (hanging over the ice), kinda chubby, probably wont be there long so if they get a new bartender we may try it again. Not a party place thats for sure and cant see music from bar

Rude service. Tacky. Sorry.
